Chart House - La Jolla (Closed)

Have tried the Chart House at many different locations. The view of the Pacific Ocean at Cardiff is great. Try the one in New Jersey (see the New York skyline). The food and service is always good.

When I saw that there was valet parking, I thought it would be the start of a great night. True to form, I was not disappointed here. Well, maybe except for the clam chowder. It will starchy with a somewhat artifical clam taste. Other than that, the food was excellent. Its not your average seafood place where you get a slab of fish, vegetables and some sauce to dip the fish in. The seafood is actually presented with good taste that is gastrointestinally pleasing also. The service was attentive at times which sometimes lagged. As for the dessert, you wouldn't expect to find good dessert dishes here but I was suprised. The Godiva chocolate cake with ice cream topped the night exceptionally well. It is freshly baked so order it in advanced. Excellent decor and atmosphere. Quite a bit of chatter but not overbearing loud. Perfect for a group of people or for an intimate date for two.

ON 07-10-2004 WE BOOKED A DINNER RESERVATION ONLINE (SANDIEGORESTAURANTS.COM)FOR THE CHART HOUSE,LA JOLLA CA. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THAT WHEN WE ARRIVED WE FOUND THAT A SIGN ON THE FRONT DOOR STATING "CLOSED FOR REMODELING" . IT WOULD HAVE SAVED US A DRIVE FROM MORENO VALLEY CA (96 MILES) IF WE HAD RECEIVED AMESSAGE ONLINE WHEN WE BOOKED THE RESERVATION THAT THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED AND IT WOULD HAVE AT LEAST AFFORDED US THE OPPORTUNITY TO BOOK A RESERVTION ELSEWHERE. HOWEVER,WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A WALK-IN RESERVATION AT THE CRABCATCHER. THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE GOOD. HOWEVER IF THE CHART HOUSE IS CLOSED THEIR NAME NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FRON YOUR WEBSITE. THERE WERE 6 OTHER COUPLES WHO WERE DISAPPOINTED TO GO THE DOOR AND FIND THE PLACE CLOSED AT THE SAME TIME WE ARRIVED. MAYBE WE SHOULD CONSIDER SEEKING ANOTHER RESTAURANT SITE TO BOOK DINNER RESERVATIONS?
